NAD efficiency is increased with RiaGev™

RiaGev is a proprietary compound that has demonstrated enters the NAD+ pathway directly and increases efficiently throughout the body, including muscle and brain.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is a co-factor in the metabolic process and is a crucial element for life and everyday health. Levels of NAD in the body decrease naturally as we age. It declines faster when we are under stress, in an obese state or with any type of disease. Evidence accumulated in the last decade has demonstrated that decreased levels of NAD are correlated with health issues including cognitive decline, neurological disorder, mitochondrial dysfunction, metabolic imbalance and possibly a shortened healthy lifespan.

NAD+ is pivotal for cell life—first as a reusable coenzyme for redox reaction and energy production, second as a consumable substrate in enzymatic reactions regulating crucial biological processes including gene expression, DNA repair, cell death and lifespan, calcium signaling, glucose homeostasis, and circadian rhythms.

As coenzymes, NAD+ and its related metabolites NAD+H, NAD+P+, and NAD+PH, participate in over 60% of the reactions in cellular metabolism. And their homeostasis is the determinant for oxidation versus reduction and anabolism versus catabolism balances. As a consumable substrate, NAD+ concentration is directly linked with aging and fat composition. And NAD+-consuming enzymes, including PARPs, sirtuins, and CD38, have wide-spread ramification for health and disease.

The experiment demonstrated that RiaGev effectively increases NAD+, including NAD+, MNN, and NR, levels in the body. For all the organs and tissue analyzed, a positive dose-response occurs between RiaGev and NAD+ metabolites content. The five-day time course experiment indicates that RiaGev increased NAD+ levels and it reached its plateau in blood after four days (8 doses) of oral supplementation.

Berberine May Reduce Weight and Lower Blood Glucose Levels

Berberine is a substance found in plants including goldenseal, barberry, Oregon grape, and others. It has a long history of uses in ancient medicine for skin diseases, infections, and digestive health.  More recently Berberine has been studied for its effects on diabetes and risk factors for heart disease and most recently, it has become popular as a potential weight loss aid.1

A 2022 review of 18 studies that examined the effect of berberine on body weight and 23 that examined its effect on body mass index (BMI; a value based on weight and height that may help determine whether a person has a healthy weight) found significant decreases in both weight and BMI in people who took berberine. Although more studies are needed, the effects on weight were seen primarily in people who took berberine in doses of more than 1 gram per day and for more than 8 weeks.2

In general, when taken orally, berberine is well tolerated; however, it is not without its risks and side effects. The most common adverse effects of berberine include abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. People who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use berberine, and it should not be given to infants. Berberine can cause or worsen jaundice in newborn infants and could lead to a life-threatening problem called kernicterus. Berberine might also interact with medicines in negative ways.3

There is some evidence that berberine may have a modest effect on lowering blood glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes and may reduce cholesterol levels. Berberine may have additional beneficial effects on high blood pressure when used in combination with the medication amlodipine.

Muscle Health from Fava Bean

Using AI technology through the mining of trillions of sequences the discovery of a novel bioactive peptide was found. This network of bioactive peptides is released through the enzymatic hydrolysis of the fava bean. This new protein is trademarked as PeptiStrong.

Clinical studies have demonstrated marked improvement in a number of bone and muscle evaluations:1

  1. Strength increases up to 19.7% compared to a placebo.
  2. Endurance increases after four weeks.
  3. Bone density increased by 1%.
  4. Improve power output up to 144%.
  5. Increase in performance up to 54%.
  6. Increase strength recovery by 47%.

PeptiStrong is derived using natural extraction. It prevents inhibition of muscle recovery by keeping the muscle you have and reducing the degradation and fatty change seen in aging. PeptiStrong may be a valuable aid in performance and recovery, rehabilitation, and anti-aging.

Maitake Mushroom Positive Benefits

Maitake (Grifola Frondose) is a type of mushroom that was first used in traditional Asian medicine. It grows in forests in Asia, Europe, and eastern North America. It forms large clumps on tree stumps and roots. It contains natural compounds that might help fight tumors, stimulate the immune system, and lower blood sugar levels.1 Applications of the use of the maitake mushroom by people include enlarged ovaries with cysts and diabetes.2 Maitake is rich in beta-glucans, which have been studied for their potential in promoting healthy cell growth and division.

A study on the orally consumed Maitake mushroom on the immune system was published in 2014.3 This study found that the “short-term oral application of the natural glucans from Maitake and Shiitake mushrooms strongly stimulated both the cellular and humoral branch of immune reactions, which were significantly higher than those of the active hexose compound (AHCC).”4 These glucans were found to significantly stimulate the defense reactions against infections and cancer.

A study of oral administration of Maitake mushroom on breast cancer patients found that “both immunologically stimulatory and inhibitory measurable effects in peripheral blood. The botanical agents produce more complex effects than assumed and may depress as well as enhance immune function.”5

Effective nature-based innovation for effective catechin bioabsorption

GreenSelect® Phytosome™, with its high concentration of EGCG, becomes a powerful catalyst for metabolism. This antioxidant-rich ingredient aids in fat oxidation, supporting a more efficient and accelerated weight-loss process.

The Phytosome™ system allows the absorption of polyphenols, which are poorly soluble in water and organic solvents. In clinical studies the GreenSelect® Phytosome™ group over a 90-day test period improved their BMI by 12%, compared to the control group with an improvement of 5%. Because of the physiological changes that occur with menopause, studies support GreenSelect® Phytosome™ is particularly  effective in postmenopausal women. The effectiveness of bioabsorption was also demonstrated in a single dose of 240mg of tea catechins. The group with GreenSelect® Phytosome™ had more than double the plasma EGCG concentration than the control group.

PI2 is a natural appetite suppressant

The active molecule in Slendesta is a well-studied protein called Proteinase Inhibitor II (PI2). PI2 works by promoting and extending the body’s natural release of cholecystokinin (CCK), a powerful peptide that signals key organs, including the stomach and brain, to induce feelings of fullness.

Researchers have discovered russet potatoes have naturally occurring higher levels of P12. Slendesta®, is a clinically tested natural and tested potent ingredient derived from natural potatoes. Clinical studies support this peptide as a game-changer in the realm of weight loss by offering a unique solution to the perennial challenge of controlling appetite. Its key mechanism lies in the activation of cholecystokinin (CCK), a hormone that signals fullness to the brain. By promoting the release of CCK, Slendesta® can induce a profound sense of satiety, and can also help by curbing hunger pangs and reducing the temptation to overeat. This natural approach to appetite control makes Slendesta® an invaluable component in weight management strategies, empowering individuals to make sustainable lifestyle choices by fostering a feeling of fullness that lasts beyond mealtimes. With its ability to support portion control and minimize unnecessary snacking, Slendesta® plays a pivotal role in creating a more balanced and mindful approach to eating, facilitating a healthier and more sustainable weight loss journey.

Ovulation disorders and Infertility

Ovulation disorders are a leading cause of infertility.1 Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) represents over 40% of ovulation disorders affecting 1 in 10 women as a whole.

Caronositol Fertility® is the perfect combination of MYO-INOSITOL (from the Corn’s Phytin) and D-CHIROINOSITOL (from the fruit of the Carob Bean Tree) that promotes fertility for women with PCOS. In clinical studies, the pregnancy rate increased 153% with a reduction in miscarriage by 170%, leading to a 272% increase in live births for the study group.2

The formulation includes 5-MTHF, which is the biologically active form of folic acid. This essential nutrient plays a critical role in the prevention of some major birth neural tube defects including anencephaly and spina bifida.3 Folic acid helps to form the neural tube early during the pregnancy and supports overall fertility.4

The combination of Caronositol Fertility® and 5-MTHF supplementation in FertiliTea supports the following benefits:

  1. Hormonal Balance: FertiliTea helps regulate hormonal imbalances that can hinder fertility, promoting a more regular menstrual cycle and increasing the likelihood of ovulation.
  1. Improved Egg Quality: The combination of inositols and 5-MTHF may enhance egg quality, contributing to higher chances of successful conception.
  1. Preconception Wellness: FertiliTea is the perfect companion on your journey to parenthood, providing essential nutrients to support the health of both partners.

Probiotic Care Supports Healthy Outcomes for Mother and Infant

A team of researchers that investigated more than 960 studies of probiotic effects on maternity health and lactation concluded, “Recent evidence indicates that maternal-dietary intake, including dietary supplements, during pregnancy and lactation [has] implications for health outcomes in both the mother and infant.”1 Research from 967 studies with 29 randomized control trials, investigated the effects of probiotic, vitamin D, and lipid-based nutrient supplements on mother and infant gut microbiota. The data from these studies support significant reduction in mastitis of the nursing mother and increased bacterial diversity in the infant gut.2

Hereditum® LC40® Breastcare is a probiotic derived from breastmilk of healthy mothers. This probiotic is clinically supported to reduce occurrence of mastitis by 51% and a 66% reduction in recurrence. LC40® offers an effective alternative to the use of commonly prescribed antibiotics during lactation.3

Studies show breast milk is the best nutritional source for infants because it provides a unique combination of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, minerals and vitamins. In addition the bioactive agents, and probiotic bacteria are responsible for a wide range of beneficial effects such as the promotion of immune system maturation and the protection against infections.4 A study conducted in New Zealand demonstrated that supplementation with Lactobacillus rhamnosus was associated with a significantly reduced risk of eczema in high-risk infants.5 Studies continue to support the benefits of probiotics for mother and infant.

Cucumber Extract and Osteorathritis Relief

According to the CDC osteorarthritis (OA) affects more than 35 million U.S. adults.1 This degenerative joint disease occurs most frequently in hands, hips, and knees. The cartilage within a joint begins to break down and the underlying bone begins to change. These changes usually develop slowly and gradually get worse over time. OA can cause pain, stiffness, and swelling that may lead to reduced function. Current medical treatments for OA include anti-inflammatory drugs, synthetic forms of cortisone injections, and surgery.2 Because OA may lead to reduced quality of life the use of efficacious nutraceutical alternatives are growing in popularity.

In our research we found Q-Actin to be especially effective in the reduction of OA pain and inflammation.3 Q-Actin is a registered cucumber extract that has published double-blind clinical studies that demonstrate improvements in joint pain and function. Iminosugars is a class of bioactive carbohydrates isolated from cucumber and may play a role in ameliorating joint pain and improving function. A supplement containing only 20 mg of Q-Actin daily was shown to reduce inflammatory markers, including tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin-6 which can drive degenerative changes in joints when elevated.

Clinical trials have shown that Q-actin improves joint function and mobility better than a placebo and even outperforms the popular supplement, glucosamine-chondroitin in relieving knee discomfort. Q-actin is an effective supplement for promoting joint flexibility, strength and comfort, making everyday activities easier.

Plant Science continues its research and development in creating efficacious formulations for consumers. The R&D investment is an asset to nutraceutical companies that want to grow market share.

The Nutritional Combination Needed with Collagen for Efficacious Bone and Joint Health

Bone and joint nutritional support is needed earlier than most people realize. Joint issues begin in both men and women as early as 30-40 years of age. A flexibility study found that once men and women hit this age, flexibility drops significantly and unfortunately just keeps going down.1

The need is increasing with the aging population for an efficacious supplement that supports bone and joint health through nutrition. Studies report the Collagen UC-II to be efficacious for the treatments of arthritis. A statistically significant improvement in knee joint function over a placebo was reported in a clinical study of  healthy individuals. The study also reported after 120 days of supplementation with UC-II collagen reported longer duration of strenuous exercise before transient knee joint pain was experienced.

However, collagen alone is only part of the nutritional requirement for joint and bone health. Studies show cartilage, bone density and strength are improved through a combination of nutrients, including: Collagen, Vitamin D, Zinc, and calcium.3  The uniqueness of this combination is that the nutritional elements actually aid in the absorption and effectiveness of each of the nutrients. In effect, it is through this combination that nutritional support for bone and joint health is improved.

Plant Science continues to evaluate studies in the development of efficacious supplements. The investment in research is important to the ongoing development of custom formulations.
